Apple Watch Series 2 Review

The Apple Watch Series 2 was released in 2016, and lots of customers welcomed the new features. With water-resistance up to 50 metres, you can go swimming and track your lengths with the Apple Watch 2, as well as track your runs with the on-board GPS chip. It also has a faster processor than the original Apple Watch, so if you’re upgrading you should see a big difference.

The screen is pretty much the same as the original Apple Watch, except for one key feature: the brightness. The screen is as bright as the Apple Watch Series 3 and you can tell the difference when you compare the brightness to the original Apple Watch. However, it doesn’t have an always-on function: you’ll need the Apple Watch 5 or above for that.

Is the Apple Watch Series 2 still worth it?

We think a refurbished Apple Watch Series 2 is still worth it! Released in 2016, the Series 2 is a few years old now, but is still worth it for lots of people. It’s ideal as a step counter and basic fitness tracker, and is even water resistant up to 50 metres. The Apple Watch 2 uses WiFi, GPS and locally-stored satellite data to quickly identify your location when you start an activity outdoors, so you can get going straight away.

One thing to bear in mind is that the Apple Watch Series 2 is only compatible with watchOS 6 and lower. watchOS 9 will be released in autumn 2022, so an Apple Watch 2 won’t have the latest features from Apple. That doesn’t mean the Series 2 isn’t worth it though – it’s the perfect first model for kids as it won’t set you back too much and still counts steps and fitness activities. They’ll just need to have a compatible iPhone, like the iPhone 6s, as well.
